1. Jesus continues to do the same for me and for you as he did for his disciples. He still shows up for us. He still speaks his peace to us.
  2. He shows up when we are at our worst to usher us back to his side, lead us to repentance, rescue us, and reclaim us as his own.
  3. Sometimes, we get prayer dementia. We can’t remember what we were going to pray for, we can’t put the words together, and, frustrated, there is nothing we can do but sigh and groan.
  4. Finding rest in God when the “what ifs”come calling
  5. How can he say it? How can he say that Christ is after all the entire meaning of life for him, and that death is no real worry?
  6. We must also address the stigma surrounding addiction within so many churches.
  7. In that moment of greatest despair, we find the antidote for all our fears. We know we are beloved of God and there is salvation in Christ’s atoning death.
  8. Honest confession brings us into the fatherly care of God where we are always greeted with grace, mercy, peace, love, and forgiveness in Jesus Christ.
  9. The Lord’s Prayer is liturgy and catechism, action and instruction, praxis and theology.
  10. Prayer is not just about asking for things. It's about receiving what has already been given to us in Christ.
  11. Praying the Word of God back to God carries didactic import. It teaches us.
