1. Even as he was dying, the heart of God poured itself out for the sake of sinners.
  2. We assert, we herald, the truth about God becoming King of the world in and through Jesus of Nazareth alone. It is our public announcement.
  3. Repentance is meaningless unless we are willing to acknowledge who we are: sinners needing mercy.
  4. The law had to have its way with the expert to bring him around (and back) to Abraham's response.
  5. The answer to our messages is God's "yes," Jesus, who sends his preachers to proclaim that there's no place for us now other than in the grip of our God and Savior.
  6. The nefarious thing about idolatry is that just about anything can become your idol: career, family, fame, wealth, status, spouse, you name it, any good thing can become a ‘god-thing” with ease. 
  7. Maybe, just maybe, our goal for 2023 should not be to live more but to die more.
  8. When we pray to Jesus, we pray to the King's right hand. We know one who has the Father's ear, respect and trust. And the one who intercedes for us is still one of us, with nail-pierced hands.
  9. Rejoice with Mary as she would rejoice with you. Be blessed, like her, with humility from God, so that you may serve joyfully and willingly wherever and in whatever role God has placed you.
  10. If Jesus shows up and you are a sinner, ‘tis more blessed to receive than to give
  11. God is not calling us to “grow up.” He is calling us to dependence.
  12. It is terribly easy to set up our theology as a buffer against the real coming of the Lord and its consequences.
