1. In Christ, we live beneath an open heaven having the definitive proof in the cross of Christ that God is outrageously for us, not against us.
  2. Good Friday encompasses the silence of God, even as it focuses on our salvation in the cross of Christ.
  3. And because Jesus on the cross was sin in its entirety, God cannot look at him. He turns his face away, causing Jesus to cry out in utmost agony, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”

  9. Christ isn’t preached in his glory but in his ignominy, his utter shame, degradation, and desolation.
  10. It is a strange irony, but in a world drunk on violence, it is only on the cross of violence that there is hope for peace in our world.
  11. If everyone would just live by the rules, the world would be a better place, wouldn’t it?
