1. You are not alone if you find it difficult to wrap your mind around the auspices of the Old Testament sacrificial system.
  2. Today I would like to share The Legend of the Dogwood, inspired by the words of Stoney Cooper.
  3. If we just say to God, “We don’t get it, please explain,” he will. He will send us a preacher to point us to his words for more clarification.
  4. The needs of the people remain the same, but now the people are you and me. We still sin, and that sin causes so many challenges in our lives.
  5. It’s scary to share my struggle and to show that I have cracks because once I’ve shown my cards, I open myself up for judgment.
  6. We can’t predict the harvest. We can only sow.
  7. Nothing moves or drives Paul more than preaching about “Christ and him crucified” (1 Cor. 2:2).
  8. This is the message of Lent. We are not called to sacrifice for Jesus in order to earn our salvation. Rather, we are called to remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for us.
  9. I can guarantee you that when Paul was overtaken by the Spirit and inspired to write these words, he did not have in mind your local school's boys' basketball tournament.
  10. Ash Wednesday's purpose is not to motivate our resolve to redouble our efforts to do better.
  11. To believe God is love and thus loves you is a miracle wrought by the Holy Spirit.
  12. His love for you is so deep that in his mercy, while you were yet a sinner, God sent his only begotten Son to die for you.
