1. His successes were not the result of his brilliance, might, and ability as an apostle. They were the result of the all-sufficient grace of God.
  2. No matter how far away they wander, God always hears the prayers of his children.
  3. Rejoice with Mary as she would rejoice with you. Be blessed, like her, with humility from God, so that you may serve joyfully and willingly wherever and in whatever role God has placed you.
  4. God is not calling us to “grow up.” He is calling us to dependence.
  5. The mind-blowing part of this entire story, though, isn’t that only one leper came back to “give thanks,” but that the Lord Jesus healed all ten knowing full well that only one would come back.
  6. Through water, blood, and word, the Spirit never stops pointing us to Christ, and even more, giving us Christ.
  7. Both now and forever, the bruised and crucified Lord nailed to a cross is our assurance of deliverance.
  8. Every day is a Sabbath for Christians. Every day is the day the Lord has made. Every day is a day to find rest in Christ.
  9. Righteousness before God is possessed only by grace and that through the currency of faith.
  10. Sometimes in hanging on to our useless guilt, we are idolaters. We believe our sin or conscience is more powerful than our God.
  11. We can appreciate what we have received from God, we can receive it all as free gift, but only when we stop investing in fool's gold.
