1. The power of the Word of God is the power of God himself, for he is always faithful to his Word.
  2. Don't lose hope. Don't avoid church on Sunday morning.
  3. Faith is like a horse with blinders because it only beholds God’s promise. It is obsessed with what God has already said.
  4. Finding the balance between indifferentism and obsessiveness has never been easy, and it’s especially difficult in our environment.
  5. Whatever body part you are, the body of Christ is no pod person. Together, we’re a living, breathing, deathless whole.
  6. Neomonasticism—that is, the idea that church work is more important than regular work—implies that God cares more about the spiritual than the physical.
  7. Christian mercy should not seek its own. It must be round, and open its eyes and look at all alike, friend and foe, as our heavenly Father does.
  8. The worship service is less like servants entering the throne room to wait on the king’s needs and more like a father joining his family around the dining room table.
  9. The only solution to free will is the announcement from a preacher that the Father forgives us for Christ's sake.
  10. The list of things our kids need to know when they leave the house is much simpler than we might believe.
  11. Just as the disciples on the road to Emmaus recognized Jesus in the breaking of the bread, so we, through the working of the Holy Spirit, recognize our Lord in the Word and Sacraments.
  12. I trust that because of the gospel, God will continue to mend what I, in my sin, continue to break.
