1. It’s scary to share my struggle and to show that I have cracks because once I’ve shown my cards, I open myself up for judgment.
  2. Ash Wednesday's purpose is not to motivate our resolve to redouble our efforts to do better.
  3. Even as he was dying, the heart of God poured itself out for the sake of sinners.
  4. Repentance is meaningless unless we are willing to acknowledge who we are: sinners needing mercy.
  5. The answer to our messages is God's "yes," Jesus, who sends his preachers to proclaim that there's no place for us now other than in the grip of our God and Savior.
  6. When we pray to Jesus, we pray to the King's right hand. We know one who has the Father's ear, respect and trust. And the one who intercedes for us is still one of us, with nail-pierced hands.
  7. God is not calling us to “grow up.” He is calling us to dependence.
  8. You are the friend in low places. It’s only from this place that you are free to look outside yourself for the remedy to the issues that plague you and humanity.
  9. Our God is a living God and he listens to our cries for help.
  10. Both now and forever, the bruised and crucified Lord nailed to a cross is our assurance of deliverance.
  11. Every day is a Sabbath for Christians. Every day is the day the Lord has made. Every day is a day to find rest in Christ.
