1. The nefarious thing about idolatry is that just about anything can become your idol: career, family, fame, wealth, status, spouse, you name it, any good thing can become a ‘god-thing” with ease. 
  2. Maybe, just maybe, our goal for 2023 should not be to live more but to die more.
  3. God is not calling us to “grow up.” He is calling us to dependence.
  4. For with God we look not for the order of nature, but rest our faith in the power of him who works.
  5. The mind-blowing part of this entire story, though, isn’t that only one leper came back to “give thanks,” but that the Lord Jesus healed all ten knowing full well that only one would come back.
  6. Through water, blood, and word, the Spirit never stops pointing us to Christ, and even more, giving us Christ.
  7. Both now and forever, the bruised and crucified Lord nailed to a cross is our assurance of deliverance.
  8. When we cry to the Lord in our trouble, he will send us a preacher with words that deliver us from destruction.
  9. The one who embodies the dove, that is, the Holy Spirit will be mounted upon the staff of Calvary.
  10. Being the baptized just may be the last, great resistance.
