Easter (337)
  1. If Jesus rose from the dead, then his claims about himself and his promises to humanity warrant serious attention and response.
  2. It’s easy to understand the allure of the shroud. In a skeptical age, a physical relic that appears to bear the imprint of the risen Christ seems like proof positive of the faith.
  3. Unlike every other king in the line of David, unlike every other person on earth, Jesus, the King of kings, had died and risen again!
  4. On this episode of Preaching the Text, John Hoyum and Steve Paulson discuss the charter of all evangelical proclamation: Christ's appearance to the disciples on Easter according to John's telling.
  5. These others do not get much attention. We do not know their names. We do not know their back stories. But they were there on Easter morning, and Luke wants his readers to know it.
  6. The story is not over, however, when they put Jesus in the tomb. The sacrifice is complete, and Jesus is still active.
  7. Through His death and resurrection Jesus will create a new community of mini-suffering servants founded on the righteousness that the Suffering Servant won for them.
  8. The “alleluia” sustains itself and actively shapes the way in which we see ourselves and the world around us to say nothing of our Lord and God.
  9. This is the final installment in our series, From Eden to Easter: Life and Death in the Garden. Each day throughout Holy Week, we will take a special look at the gardens and wildernesses of Scripture, and in particular, these scenes' connections to Christ's redemption won for us on the cross.
