Easter (21)
  1. On the one hand, we take up our cross and follow Him. On the other hand, however, Jesus has conquered this world.
  2. When you live in a culture that capitalizes on quick fixes and sudden solutions, you can be tempted to approach God as if He were in the business of handing out momentary marvels.
  3. We all have voices we listen to... and sometimes those voices are not trustworthy.
  4. The death of Jesus was not the end. It was the beginning of a new life and a new way in which He would rule over the world.
  5. As we gather between the Ascension and Pentecost, we remember what Jesus is doing. He is praying for us.
  6. But the Church is not built on human love. That would be much too small for God. No, the Church is built on God’s love and God’s love is different.
  7. Jesus has come that we might know God, not from a distance, but from His personal intervention in our lives.
  8. But notice one thing. When Jesus speaks of commands, He does so in the context of love.
  9. Even when you are not sure where Jesus is going, you are on the way, because you are with Him: The Way, the Truth, and the Life. Jesus is right by your side.
  10. So, we pray. Not just in times of need, but we pray at all times. Because this is part of what it means to be saved.
  11. Jesus opens for us a way to walk through suffering and to sing our song of salvation as we talk to our heavenly Father.
  12. What we have in our reading is a picture of how God deals with a lack of understanding.
