1. Everything in Scripture is God revealing himself to his people, you and me.
  2. When we forget that we live by promise, that's when the danger tends to creep in. Because failing to embrace promise means we usually fall back into notions of luck, or even worse--into works.
  3. The drama of Scripture is about God renaming us by bringing us into his image-bearing family once again. And it would take “a name above all names” to accomplish it.

  8. It’s the notion of mercy that leads us to the atonement, and it is the atonement that provides a foundational basis for the justification of sinners.
  9. The power of the Word of God is the power of God himself, for he is always faithful to his Word.
  10. Don't lose hope. Don't avoid church on Sunday morning.
  11. God’s goodness spoke a promise of peace and mercy to the bewildered, a promise that rings out to this day.
