1. This is the aim of a day of repentance: To come face to face with God and, therefore, face to face with our sin.
  2. The account of the transfiguration of Jesus is indeed about His transfiguration. But, in a way, it is also about the transfiguration of everything else.
  3. Transfiguration looks like one thing. The majesty mockery of Christ’s passion looks like another.
  4. Seasonally, the text forms a bridge to the ascent of Jesus to Mount Tabor and, ultimately, to Calvary, so we can receive the Gospel of God which saves us.
