1. Even as he was dying, the heart of God poured itself out for the sake of sinners.
  2. All of Scripture, every last syllable of it, is meant to drive us to "consider Jesus," the One who comes to "make us right" by gifting us his righteousness.
  3. The gospel's message is the scandalous announcement that Yahweh has stooped to our frame, to where we are.
  4. Repentance is meaningless unless we are willing to acknowledge who we are: sinners needing mercy.
  5. As the writer to the Hebrews affirms, what makes the Christian gospel so much better is that we are no longer dealing with “types and shadows."
