Preaching (1905)
  1. Christ’s cross , Christ’s marks, Christ’s grace, and Christ’s Law of love are on display in this concluding section of Paul’s letter.
  2. It is well with our soul, because Christ has conquered the grave and brought hope and light to life through His resurrection.
  3. By making a big deal of every baptism, of every confirmation, of every rite of matrimony, the Church takes a stand against the intrusion of consumerism, secularism, identity politics, subversive subcultures, gender dysphoria, and the like.
  4. Wisdom and strength require bootstrap-pulling and the placing of noses to grindstones.
  5. You find God where you least expect Him. You find Him in humility, in suffering, in a small thing, even a cross.
  6. “Fruit” is the Christian character, the thing that spills out from all who have the spirit of God delivered to them in their baptism.
  7. Jesus will not give you a convenient, comfortable message to preach this Sunday. But, because He fixed His gaze on the cross, He has called you to something greater than convenience.
  8. The conference ministry tent is typically regarded as a spot to make connections, kill time, or scrounge empty calories. What I found out is how the ministry tent is an unexpected gold mine for Gospel proclamation.
