Preaching (112)
  1. A multi-day workshop for pastors to hone the Craft of Preaching
  2. We all have voices we listen to... and sometimes those voices are not trustworthy.
  3. The death of Jesus was not the end. It was the beginning of a new life and a new way in which He would rule over the world.
  4. This glory, once found, is not to be extracted from this world. Rather, God comes in glory to impart glory to the world.
  5. At the close of what we see as impossible commands, Jesus leaves His disciples with a picture of God’s impossible love made possible in Him.
  6. The words of Jesus are hard words for us to hear today, especially in America. They call us to question our lifestyle choices, to turn from our pursuit of happiness, and to experience the gift of grace.
  7. Peter asks Jesus to please go away. But Jesus is the God of surprises and, rather than go away, He comes closer.
  8. Jesus will return in glory to bring the fulfillment of God’s grace to all. Until that time, however, we are given one day in the life of Jesus and comforted by the multi-faceted nature of God’s grace.
  9. Jesus is not asking us to figure out when He will return. Jesus is asking us to live everyday in the certainty that He will return.
  10. Life will not be easy. Conflicts will occur. But God remains in power, and He rules over all.
  11. If you have ever felt like you are standing on the outside looking in, like you do not belong in a beautiful church with its beautiful people, then listen to Jesus, because Jesus has a word for you.
  12. While today we read all of the names of those who have departed this year, we do not lump them all together. Instead, we are asked to see them as God sees them, as individuals.
