Preaching (2191)
  1. What is implicit by way of accoutrements and ceremonies becomes explicit in the sermon: Beliefs are put to proclamation.
  2. The spiritual dangers are all around us, so let us not grow weary of the Word that has already taken root and borne fruit in our lives.
  3. Being a child, heir, heir of God, and coheir with Christ raises the obvious question, what exactly does the Son of God inherit, which I inherit along with Him?
  4. Just like you cannot stop the rain by shouting, so you cannot stop the plans of God from coming down.
  5. Preaching which eschews the harping harangues of legalistic schoolmarms in favor of the Savior’s undeserved favor reflects the holy hilarity of the Gospel.
  6. The promise is exclusive in that it is only given to those who come as children to our Lord, but it is inclusive because all may come. Christ has room for all.
  7. In a text which struggles with the law, the Jesus you preach this week must be the law fulfiller.
  8. This peace from Christ was bought with no less strife or warfare than what earthly peace is won with.
