Preaching (2165)
  1. God’s grace embraces us in the same manner as parents’ attachment to their children instinctively causes them to scoop even their misbehaving little ones up into their arms.
  2. Jesus knew what was coming, so He spent four chapters in John’s gospel preparing them. Then, immediately before leading them to the Garden of Gethsemane, He prayed.
  3. When Peter says to resist him, firm in your faith, he is not sending you out to do battle on your own. He is locating you. You are baptized into Christ.
  4. “Rolling the dice” or rather “casting lots” has an interesting place in the life of the Church from the Bible.
  5. The end of the Easter season is a good time to remind ourselves that the Holy Spirit kindly stops by because the Messiah has triumphed over the Murderer.
  6. The temptation for many believers is either despair or outrage: despair that Christendom is fading, or outrage at the civilization replacing it.
