Ministry of the Church (1641)
  1. MacArthur’s courage to speak Scripture’s truth, no matter the audience, should be commended.
  2. How can we be righteous even in the face of evil?
  3. “The Church exists to tell anyone and everyone who knocks on her door wondering what’s inside: Come and see” (pg. 58). Such reminders make The Church a worthwhile read.
  4. Wrestling alone puts us always at a disadvantage and every wrestling face-off needs a referee. Pastors are called to be such referees for their people.
  5. The IRS says churches can endorse candidates from the pulpit. But just because they can doesn’t mean they should.
  6. What preachers deliver to their hearers is not just one or another gift, a present or two that enriches life. Preachers also deliver the very presence of the Lord.
  7. We don’t flinch at sin. We speak Christ into it.
  8. A multi-day workshop for pastors to hone the Craft of Preaching
  9. By making a big deal of every baptism, of every confirmation, of every rite of matrimony, the Church takes a stand against the intrusion of consumerism, secularism, identity politics, subversive subcultures, gender dysphoria, and the like.
  10. The conference ministry tent is typically regarded as a spot to make connections, kill time, or scrounge empty calories. What I found out is how the ministry tent is an unexpected gold mine for Gospel proclamation.
  11. The Church speaks not with the cleverness of men, but with the breath of God.
  12. This is the second installment in the 1517 articles series, “What Makes a Saint?”
