  1. What Israel’s story makes painfully obvious is that following the Lord is a lifelong lesson in “I believe, but help my unbelief” (Mark 9:24).
  2. There has never been an opportune moment to put all your trust, faith, and hope in God.
  3. Living by faith has never been about what we bring to the table. It has always been, and always will be, about what God does for us when we can’t do anything for ourselves.
  4. The ethos of the church’s worship is found in poor, needy, and desperate sinners finding solace and relief in the God of their salvation.
  5. Chapter 3 of Habakkuk, which is often referred to as “the Psalm of Habakkuk,” is a song of catharsis, relief, faith, and profound emotion.
  6. How do the words “The righteous shall live by his faith” go from a context of hope in hopelessness to the cornerstone declaration of the chief doctrine of the Christian faith?
  7. Despite how deep Habakkuk sank into doubt and despair, his faith was not entirely lost. He was merely taking his doubts where they belonged: to the Lord.
  8. Jacob is given the gospel afresh right when he needed it and it is because of this gospel that his faith is stirred up anew.
  9. The mere fact of “having faith” or saying that “you believe” is not as important as in what or in whom your faith rests.
  10. True religion or true faith is heavenly. It understands that mankind’s only hope has to come from outside of itself.
  11. If your faith is rooted in the gospel of Zion, in the good news of Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection on your behalf, you are already a member of the “heavenly Jerusalem”
