Introduction to Apologetics

At some point in your life, you are going to encounter people who object to Christianity–perhaps, you already have. 1 Peter 3:15 exhorts all Christians to “be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have,” and to do so with gentleness and respect. Enroll in this course for free today and learn the basic tenets of Christian Apologetics.

Course Syllabus

  • What is Apologetics? (Introduction)

This first session gives an overview of Apologetics, both historically and philosophically.

  • The Historical Apologetic Approach

All of Christianity's claims rest squarely on one historical event: The Resurrection of Jesus Christ. As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:16-19, "If Christ has not been raised...we are of all people most to be pitied." But he did rise and the evidence aligns with the resurrection.

  • Arguments for God's Existence

In this session, we'll examine three popular arguments for God’s Existence, including The Contingency Argument, The Cosmological Argument, and The Moral Argument

  • The Integrity of the New Testament

In this session, we'll consider the question, "Can we be confident that the Gospels–Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John–are reliable texts telling us about the life of Jesus?”

  • Pluralism, Miracles and the Problem of Evil

In this session, we'll consider a few 'problems' that emerge in today's conversation. For instance, we'll ask, "How can an all-powerful, all-loving God exist while the world experiences so much pain and suffering?"
