Truth (19)
  1. When a congregation is abused by its pastor, it loses more than a shepherd. It loses its threshold place; that fragile seam between earth and heaven.
  2. The story being told in the film is not Bonhoeffer’s story. It’s not the Confession Church’s story. Nor is it the story of the German resistance against Hitler. It is a completely fictional story of Hollywood.
  3. Let your soul grieve, yes, but don’t let it be eaten alive by worry.
  4. Free speech isn't dead yet, and when it comes to the proclamation of the gospel, it never will be.
  5. Dispel some of that darkness bottled up inside you, with the grace first shared to us by Christ that is now ours to share with those around us.
  6. If you are a Christian, you already have what you need to give a reason for the hope within you. That reason, though, is not you.
  7. Applying the pressure of law to ensure you do not to take grace for granted squeezes the life and power out of the gospel.
  8. My fear of this coming darkness only lasts a moment.
  9. We assert, we herald, the truth about God becoming King of the world in and through Jesus of Nazareth alone. It is our public announcement.
  10. Fullness, truth, reality – all this God gives us as his gift in Christ.
  11. God is consistently rooting us in reality—both what is seen and unseen—because that is where he is.
  12. Jesus meets us in our life of lies, in our falsehoods, in the untruth of our being, and in the company, we create to cover up our nakedness.
