  2. Abraham is a man caught between the wrath of God from Heaven for sin and pleading for the mercy of sinners below on earth.
  3. This is what baptism indicates. It is an identity with the victor. It is comforting that the enemies have no hold on me, on us.
  4. From the beginning of the biblical narrative to the end, God is a God of conversation and community. He speaks and He gathers. That is what God does. That is who God is.
  5. As good as it is to follow the example Jesus, it is even better to listen to the words of Jesus.
  6. No longer on the outs, God has taken you through Christ’s death and transferred you to His Kingdom, made you a part of his body. Family dinner just would not be complete if you were not there too.
  7. This sermon is a terrific opportunity in the season of Pentecost to give a teaching on the Holy Trinity with an emphasis on the mystery of God.
  8. By the mighty acts of the Lord God, the great I Am, we are set free and forgiven on account of Jesus’ shed blood and third day righteousness.
  9. Paul and company’s constant prayer for their readers/hearers is that they be filled with knowledge of God’s will in all wisdom and spiritual insight, “To walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him".
  10. Jesus does search out people who have been beaten up by sin and He does rescue them from certain death.
