Preaching (2182)
  1. Our lingering sinful nature does not defeat or negate the work of Jesus. In Him, we are perfectly righteous, despite the sin which clings so closely.
  2. Like a good field general, to conclude his epistle, Paul equips us for battle. He gives us the gifts and the armor we need to “stand against the schemes of the devil."
  3. God does not leave His people alone, to find their own way and stumble around in the dark. The Lord goes with them in His Word.
  4. This is one of the earliest bits of New Testament literature, and the words of this relative of our Savior are inspired and useful for teaching and reproof, for correction and training in righteousness.
  5. On this episode of Preaching the Text, John Hoyum and Steve Paulson discuss what makes a person clean or unclean.
  6. The presence of traditions is not the problem. It is the way in which we experience them. And on this day, Jesus reminds us of His presence, so all of us experience His grace.
  7. Is this text about marriage or Jesus? The answer should be obvious by now: Yes!
  8. It is the humble who will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. Or, as Jesus said it elsewhere in Matthew: “The poor in spirit are blessed because theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.”
