  1. In episode TWO HUNDRED AND NINETY, Mike, Jason, and Wade discuss the the old saying, “The gospel assumed is the gospel denied.”
  2. On this episode of Preaching the Text, John Hoyum and Steven Paulson discuss the story in which the disciples argue with each other about who will be the greatest in the kingdom of God.
  3. Jesus' active obedience is what saves you from your active sinning. He took your sin to the cross and that one act of obedience is what led to your justification by grace through faith on account of His glorious resurrection.
  4. Jesus is the Savior. He is not a coach, not a great example or teacher, and not a dispenser of spiritual favors in exchange and in proportion to the purity and abundance of one’s faith.
  5. I would encourage the preacher attracted to an opportunity to harangue his hearers because of perceived or known indiscretions of gossip and the like to, once again, resist for the sake of the entire community. As always, focus on the Christ.
  6. In the final analysis it isn’t a matter of whether you use rhetoric, but how. Inasmuch as your preaching is still public speaking...you’re going to get rhetorical.
  7. On this episode of Preaching the Text, John Hoyum and Steven Paulson discuss a failed instance of the disciples trying to heal someone.
  8. The people of God have experienced millennia of the gap, waiting and longing for restoration, so naturally they are astonished when they get a glimpse of the Kingdom.
