Preaching (1972)
  1. Preach the Word. Preach and teach purely. Care for people, but be no “respecter of persons,” bowing to their appetites, bending to their whims.
  2. This is the fifth installment in our article series, “An Introduction to the Bondage of the Will,” written to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther’s Bondage of the Will.
  3. Thanks be to God that when we are faithless, Jesus is faithful, even to death, even to resurrection. His own. And yours.
  4. Instead of allowing people to slowly fade, Jesus leads us to take the first step toward bringing them back home.
  5. God never turns His back on His people. He visits them with salvation and even outsiders are welcomed in through His redemptive visitation.
  6. It is precisely from the cross that the glory of God shines most brightly into our lives, as dark and sinister as Golgotha appears from a sinful distance. Cross trumps crisis.
