Pentecost (606)
  1. How might your preaching of the work of the Spirit expand your own view of the Spirit’s work, and help your hearers gain an appreciation for the Holy Spirit’s activity in their lives beyond a standalone celebration, one day a year?
  2. Pentecost is a flashback. It drives us back to the past. It also propels us forward into the future.
  3. The Israelites had taken the Covenantal promise and the language of separation and interpreted them to mean the message of salvation and restoration was meant for only them. But this is counter to the reality of the Scriptures.
  4. God is most glorified in the sending of Jesus to be the Savior of sinners.
  5. Trust in the midst of trouble. That is what our Lord calls us to experience today.
  6. This text arguably contains the clearest teaching concerning the bodily resurrection from the dead in the Old Testament.
  7. Hebrews reminds us you cannot “be the church” unless you go to church.
  8. Everywhere we look, there is suffering. But Jesus is not calling us to look. He is calling us to listen.
  9. This is an extremely important chapter and it speaks to the motif of DEATH and RESURRECTION in a powerful way.
  10. The emphasis for All Saints Sunday is not on the saints, but the Sanctifier, Jesus Christ.
  11. In his death, Jesus has done the ultimate act of charity. He has given his life for all.
