Faith (498)
  1. In Christ Jesus, through faith, we’ve received everything we need for our bodies and lives, and life eternal.
  2. On this episode of the Soul of Christianity, Debi and Dan chat with Paul Ralph of “the ideas cafe” based in Holland Landing, Ontario, Canada. Paul has a way with words and has a story of faith and personal struggles that you don’t want to miss.
  3. We have seen a vision better than an angel. We have seen God on the cross. A God who is willing to suffer for us.
  4. Love is to be the interpreter of law. Where there is no love, these things are meaningless, and law begins to do harm.
  5. Paul has a full head of steam and runs into the ground the notion that we receive the Spirit by works instead of by grace. Instead, we are of Abraham, the man of Christ.
  6. We must also remember that our enemy is a creature of God. He is someone for whom Christ Jesus died. He is a sinner just like any other, no more or less selfish than us.
  7. Jesus’s followers aren’t ostriches who bury their heads in the sand. That’s not helpful or hopeful for anyone. Resting from life’s trials and troubles comes in the remembrance of the One who is with you in the middle of all of them.
  8. "Move or die" is one of those “laws” we don’t like, but we have to admit, as harsh as it sounds, it is good for us. It helps us. Just don’t apply it to my faith.
  9. True strength, wisdom, and understanding come to us from God. His Spirit gives us wisdom and understanding through the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus.
  10. Every time the Scriptures are opened, we are repeating this scene. Every time the gospel is preached, we are replicating a moment wherein the faithless ones are greeted by their faithful Lord.
  11. Nor can we see how God’s hand will guide us through every challenge of this life, we have to believe it. Afterwards, we see how it happened, but in the midst of challenges and trials, we walk by faith and not by sight.
  12. If you want to stay out of jail, look to the law. If you want into heaven, look to the promise. If you want to earn a paycheck from your boss, work. If you want to receive salvation from your God, believe.
