1. The worship service is less like servants entering the throne room to wait on the king’s needs and more like a father joining his family around the dining room table.
  2. What then does this sequence of stories teach us? It teaches us a pertinent lesson about the Christian life.
  3. Should we really be surprised that it would happen this way, that the servant would suffer for our salvation and die for our forgiveness?
  4. When we Christians shoehorn Creedal Christianity into any of these ideological positions we obscure the Gospel mingling it with the Law and strip the Good News of its catholicity.
