Advent (335)
  1. Lutheran theology begins not with God in His terrifying majesty but with God in the flesh, God crucified for sinners. Advent is about this trajectory.
  2. Are you looking for rest? Is your heart cluttered? Are you searching for comfort? Just look at the King-sized bed.
  3. The Great King comes for us.
  4. We ourselves are both recipients of God’s grace as well as messengers sent with His word of grace for other people whom we encounter face to face, whether neighbors or close family members.
  5. We often focus on Christ’s obedience unto death. Here, the focus is on Christ’s obedience unto Incarnation.
  6. This Advent, waiting gives birth to God’s Christmas love.
  7. Today on the Christian History Almanac, we remember Advent and Christmas traditions from Latin America.
  8. On this episode of Preaching the Text, John Hoyum and Steve Paulson discuss the visitation of Mary to Elizabeth while both are pregnant – Mary with Jesus, and Elizabeth with John.
