1. Is this text about marriage or Jesus? The answer should be obvious by now: Yes!
  2. It is the humble who will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. Or, as Jesus said it elsewhere in Matthew: “The poor in spirit are blessed because theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.”
  3. If you find yourself preaching through epistles for multiple weeks, maybe, just maybe, your hearer will find something familiar from last week in what you are talking about this week which piques their interest, and even whets their appetite for what else might be coming.
  4. But Jesus did not come to be a bystander to His own creation. No, He came to be a redeemer of His people and to rule over all as the Lord of creation.
  5. Joshua is not offering Israel a choice. Really, he is giving them an option which is a “non-option.”
