1. The gospel isn’t for the strong but people who know they aren’t.
  2. The Church’s unity is not uniformity in every matter of her well-being. It is faithfulness in what constitutes her being.
  3. If the church is going to speak to people weary of religion, it will not be by offering better techniques or louder certainty, but by daring to say what Paul so plainly said: Christ is enough.
  4. Baptism does not promise us chocolates or flowers, but something far greater: life in Christ.
  5. American religion did not become optional because the gospel failed. It became optional because religion slowly redefined itself around usefulness.
