Promises of God (230)
  1. A father dies and leaves an inheritance to his two children, Jane and Grace. The family member handling the estate gives them each a letter containing the cheques for their inheritance.
  2. I hate driving. I am more of a “pew-pew” guy than a “vroom-vroom” guy. I battle my own heart every day in Atlanta traffic.
  3. Whenever I read the Genesis account of Abraham, I’m more impressed that he’s often a clumsy, mess of a man than that it’s “faith that’s accounted to him as righteousness.”
  4. I cannot recall how many times I sang along to this theme song, punching and kicking as a kid in the 80s. But much of my desire to join the Marine Corps had its genesis in the 80s cartoon “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero.”
  5. When God adds His promise to creation, we understand a greater reality than what we see: Light given; Light that sustains life; Light that will end up living in the midst of his people forever.
  6. Blessedness comes to us camouflaged as simple earthly words, water, bread and wine.
  7. The promise is trustworthy because God has proven Himself to be trustworthy.
  8. God’s justification of us does not happen secretly in our spirits. God justifies you and me in His absolving Word
  9. We were created by our heavenly Father to receive all things from Him as free gift.
  10. She heard it before, but looking around she struggles to see how it matters.
  11. That week, I began to doubt myself. Did I really believe?
  12. It seems like the sky is falling every other day now. From politics to culture to religion to about anything else, there’s one purported cataclysm after another on the horizon.
