Preaching (2161)
  1. Christ saves the world even now from judgment and preserves it moment-by-moment for the potential salvation of many and, ultimately, the created order itself.
  2. We can’t predict the harvest. We can only sow.
  3. Nothing moves or drives Paul more than preaching about “Christ and him crucified” (1 Cor. 2:2).
  4. On this episode of Preaching the Text, Steve Paulson and John Hoyum discuss the story of Jesus healing a man born blind.
  5. Underlying the particular strategies of these missionaries was a more fundamental approach to proclamation, one contemporary preachers need to reclaim.
  6. We live our lives of flesh dependent like slaves, but God has made us children and heirs through Christ. So, we must “unlearn” what we have learned in our lives of sin.
  7. We know how we stand before God, justified, or made just by Jesus’ blood. But there is a future reality too. We certainly will be saved in His judgment because we are justified.
  8. The woman in our text probably did not expect much from her trip to the well that day, but Jesus did. Jesus planned to meet her.
  9. We don't make Church "happen." Only Christ can do so. It's his happening.
  10. Today on the Christian History Almanac podcast, we remember the landmark sermon, “The Dangers of an Unconverted Ministry.”
