Pentecost (660)
  1. Trusting the Master to show mercy, he shows mercy in the name of the Master.
  2. God in Christ shows us how to lift up holy hands.
  3. So, you have God’s generosity on the one hand and the greed of the elite on the other. Which would you rather have? Unjust scales or a scale breaking generous God?
  4. Preaching this text is to call for joy, joy for the fellowship that has been found, the fellowship that gathers together this very day.
  5. The sinner who soberly faces her sin has no place to run but to a savior, and the savior to run to is at the cross. The cross is where sin goes to die.
  6. The crosier of Christ was the cross and the narrow gate He led us through to pasture in the doorway of His empty tomb.
  7. The text stands as an exhortation and warning. The challenge will be to make sure it is also an encouragement to the failing and wayward disciples who sit before you.
  8. Christ’s hands and feet, Christ’s very heart, are, indeed, the hands, feet, and heart of His servants, His slaves, those He has made free by dying as slave for them.
  9. Where else was Israel going to go? There really was no other option. Trust in the God who saves.
