  1. Looking back on the year, the narrative we’re fed is that we should be able to show how much we’ve grown, how much we’ve done, all the successes we’ve had, how improved we are.
  2. Into the suffocating prison of sorrow, God sends his Breath, his Holy Spirit to help us. We may suffer, but we will not be alone.
  3. Matthew 20- “Nunya Business!” Is not God free to generously give His grace--and indeed everything that is His--to whomever it pleases Him to give?
  4. We think that if we are good enough, brave enough, or at least if we try hard enough, we will be someone who can be both fully known and fully loved.
  5. Should we really be surprised that it would happen this way, that the servant would suffer for our salvation and die for our forgiveness?
  6. By every conceivable category, grace shouldn't exist. It shouldn't have been bestowed. It's the card in God's trick we never saw coming.
  7. Most days, we're not okay. We're not good enough, strong enough, or "Christian" enough.
  8. Our brokenness cuts deeper than just the times when we recognize it needs to be fixed.
  9. God does not combat the impending armies of Satan with might and power, but with the weakness of a babe.
  10. I can only disbelieve you or believe you. If I disbelieve you, I go on being a miserable bore.
  11. Alright, it may not change your life, but we had fun doing this one. Troy is glad that he is not like Craig. Craig is glad that he isn't like Troy and the Pharisee is glad that he isn't like the tax collector. Join the boys as they talk about Thanksgiving and Luke 18:9-14.
  12. We are still so much closer to Peter in our flaws than his virtues, and Christ is still our rescue.
