Incarnation (189)
  1. Preach the full council of God even as it focuses on the Virgin Mary who was the virginal handmaid of the Lord and through whom Immanuel, “God with us,” happens.
  2. Most days, we're not okay. We're not good enough, strong enough, or "Christian" enough.
  3. Jesus isn't just "the reason for the season." He's the reason we don't have to cross off "spiritually bankrupt," "mentally compromised," and "physically vulnerable" from our Christmas list.
  4. Despite its familiarity and frequent usage, the imagery in "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel," is often underappreciated.
  5. God does not combat the impending armies of Satan with might and power, but with the weakness of a babe.
  6. The Son of Eve disarmed Satan’s hold on humanity, not with an earthquake, atomic bomb, or brilliant essay, but with his dead body and final words, “It is finished.”
  7. The real question we must ask about God’s will isn’t, “God, command us according to your will and we’ll do it,” but, “God, what are you willing to do for us who can’t do what you command?”
  8. Understanding the doctrine of the hypostatic union can help us understand what God is up to in the Incarnation.
  9. Jesus is born, and His birth is proclaimed to shepherds which includes good news for all of us.
  10. Gabriel appears to Mary with the shocking announcement that she is to be the mother of the Son of God. How should we view Mary?
  11. Theology is not to simply adopt the positions and presuppositions of philosophy, nor should it reject philosophy.
  12. Every day, in everything we do and experience, we are busy hearing, seeing, and telling stories.
