  1. The account of the transfiguration of Jesus is indeed about His transfiguration. But, in a way, it is also about the transfiguration of everything else.
  2. Yes, for a moment, Jesus asks the crowds to stop and to look at this beautiful vision. He offers a scenic outlook to the inhabitants of this world.
  3. Jesus not only claims our present moment, but He does so with the grace of eternity. The beatitudes are filled with promises of future blessing.
  4. In the middle, the thrill of extremes settles into the boredom of routines. For followers of Jesus, this can lead in several problematic directions.
  5. This is a salutary commemoration of the confession we share, and an opportunity to give thanksgiving to Jesus for choosing this holy man of God to receive, believe, and share the gospel of our salvation!
  6. It is hard to believe, but somehow it is better for followers of Jesus that Jesus has gone away. Otherwise, the Spirit would not have come.
  7. Like John, we know some things about Jesus, and the things we know are very important. But there are other things about Jesus and His ways which elude us.
