1. Both now and forever, the bruised and crucified Lord nailed to a cross is our assurance of deliverance.
  2. Our comfort in this seemingly endless age of crisis after crisis is the inexhaustible hope of Jesus’s reversal.
  3. In the face of abject evil, these two faithfully cling to the words and truths of he alone who is Good, Jehovah God.
  4. God's Son comes to deal with the infestation of sin, but in an unforeseen twist of grace, he’s the only one who goes under the knife.
  5. The God who abundantly restores is still in the business of total restoration, even today. Even now the God of heaven restores dead sinners to life.
  6. Our Judge (the one who can condemn us) has become our Advocate (the one who doesn’t condemn us) because he is also our Substitute (the one who takes our condemnation).

  8. Mephibosheth’s story is a living parable of the gospel. It reeks of redemption, demonstrating precisely what Christ does for even the chiefest of sinners.
  9. The youths that mock Elisha are representative of Israel’s collective contempt and disregard for all things relating to their One True God.
  10. The Son of God is still God the Son in the Incarnation.
  11. A seed grows the kingdom of God. A whisper eventually turns the world upside down. A carpenter’s son from nowhere becomes the Savior of everyone. Such is God’s way.
  12. Calvary is our mountain of pardon. It is the place which reveals most definitively God’s plan to redeem and reconcile sinners to himself.
