  1. God turns a song meant to catch us in our sin into the love song of our savior. Easter’s distant triumph song.
  2. Jesus Christ is the only one whose “standing in the breach” satisfied God’s just wrath for debts and sins while at the same time bringing the saving mercy and life that God desires for all people.
  3. Isaiah uses commands and rhetorical questions to invite Israel to have faith in the future deliverance of God and to trust in the finished work of His “suffering servant.”
  4. Joseph could not give them the complete assurance they required. They needed someone greater than Joseph, and so do we!
  5. Like petulant children they bemoan their lot and continue to question their very existence. Nevertheless, God loves His wayward children.
