1517 is a nonprofit organization focused on assuring all people that the work of salvation is finished in Jesus Christ. Our mission is to help you hear that you are forgiven and free on account of Christ alone.
Our team is experienced in teaching Reformation Theology and preaching the Gospel, as well as Creative Production, Marketing, and Distribution.
Founded in 2011, 1517 serves thousands of people each year through a variety of different projects. Every day, we produce resources anchored in the central message of the Bible - That Christ died for sinners and rose for their justification.
We take our name from the year "1517" when Martin Luther posted the 95 theses in Wittenberg, Germany. With a genuine desire for correction and unity he challenged a number of official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church–an act that sparked the Protestant Reformation and led to a rediscovery of the Gospel.
We follow in the footsteps of Martin Luther and others who have passed down this gift of the biblical Gospel message.
Throughout our history, we’ve worked toward a single purpose: Declaring and defending the good news that we are forgiven and free on account of Christ alone.
"New Reformation Publications" was formed out of a need for publishing and printing the works of great Lutheran theologians, especially the apologist John Warwick Montgomery.
After ongoing discussions with like-minded theologians, a fellowship is formed of individuals who were taught by professor and theologian, Rod Rosenbladt. This gathering of historians, theologians, pastors, and philosophers, began publishing articles addressing theology, church history, and apologetics.
On the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, 1517 hosted its first conference in San Diego, CA. This three-day event was packed with teaching, music, food, and fellowship all focused on the radical message of God's grace toward sinners.
After rebranding from "1517 The Legacy Project" to simply "1517", the organization launched a new site at 1517.org. It was here that 1517 began publishing new articles, podcasts, and videos every single day–and has done so ever since.
Christianity is not about what you have done, but what Christ did for you. He took away your sin and gave you his righteousness.
