1. This week, we are grateful to publish a series of sermons from our beloved late Chaplain, Ron Hodel. This is the second installment of that series.
  2. The title “peacemakers” is not ours except as we tell and retell his peacemaking story.
  3. The only one rightful heir of the kingdom of God, inherits from us, our cross, and descends into the kingdom of the damned.
  4. The giver of life, the source of joy, stands weeping together with the human family as they grieve under the curse of sin.
  5. “Poverty of spirit” is not an ethical value we strive for. It is an act of God’s mercy spoken to the deepest recesses of our soul when it’s overwhelmed by God’s grace.
  6. The only one truly blessed of God, who in himself is God’s incarnate makarios, surrounds himself with a multitude of the accursed, the non-makarios.
  7. We don’t need to make forgiveness, life, and salvation a hard sell.
  8. God’s Son is infinitely more than our fragile egos have flattened him out to be.
  9. We're of little faith. Or rather, we have big faith, but it’s in something else. Our faith is in our ability to control situations, manipulate them to our advantage.
  10. As God is prone to do, He sometimes shows us who He is through people whom we would never think of as teachers, much less imitators of God.
