1. God comes to us through the flesh and blood and spirit of Christ precisely where he promised to be manifest to us and for us.
  2. The resurrection of Jesus encompasses the total and comprehensive glorification of a human being, not merely his restoration.
  3. Christ Jesus brings his word and presence to where you are and he is even willing to do so through the likes of your personally present pastor.
  4. Maundy Thursday is your big night. For the Passover Lamb is given for you, given to you.
  5. We don't make Church "happen." Only Christ can do so. It's his happening.
  6. By making a big deal of every baptism, of every confirmation, of every rite of matrimony, the Church takes a stand against the intrusion of consumerism, secularism, identity politics, subversive subcultures, gender dysphoria, and the like.
  7. Christ is present in the pure preaching of the gospel. And if Christ is present, then we have entered into the domain of the sacraments.
  8. Ascertaining the what and how of the Church greatly factor into the very purpose of the Church, that is, they essentially answer the question why the Church?
  9. Preaching is the vehicle of salvation because God engages in self-giving through the heralding of His Word.
  10. It is through the locatedness of the Church that one anchors faith in Christ and the sure hope we are not alone, and God is for us and with us through Jesus.
  11. In the middle of the spring, on a run-of-the-mill Thursday, the ascension interrupts the mundane to herald the extraordinary: Christ is in charge and is present on earth as he is in heaven, guiding history for the sake of his church.
