1. The primary point of Joseph’s life (and every story in Scripture) is to point us to Christ. To tell us something about what God is like and how He interacts with His Creation.
  2. As Christians, we are not cold ascetics, depriving ourselves in the here and hereafter. We are given good things from our heavenly Father in heaven, and even a foretaste of the things to come.
  3. We must be careful in how we are answering this question. So often we fall into the trap of basing on our assurance on what we are currently doing or not doing.
  4. We are so free as Christians that we don't even have to compare ourselves to other Christians.
  5. Begin thinking of your church as a homeless shelter. See how it changes the way you see the weary pilgrim sitting in the pew next to you.
  6. Around Easter my mind often drifts back to all of the annual ‘Revival Services’ I attended when I was growing up. Every year they began the revival with the Easter service.
  7. No matter what happens, whether failure, pain, or discouragement, Jesus says, “Come to me... and I will give you rest"
  8. We are a people always seeking, always moving, always striving for more: it is the American way.
  9. The sociologist John Robinson is known by his colleagues as "Father Time." He has dedicated his career to researching how people use their most valuable resource, time.
  10. Our Father does not bid us to turn inward, but outward, to the Son who is himself our unending Sabbath rest.
