Pentecost (606)
  1. We might think the course of our life is from our birth to our death. But Jesus opens our eyes to see that the direction of our existence is much larger than we can even imagine.
  2. The baptized, those rescued and redeemed by God’s grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ alone, are given an entirely new life to live, a completely new way to walk.
  3. The great Gospel comfort in our text is that the Lord is not through with us either, and He will not let us die or despair. Instead, He provides everything we need for our journey in life through His Word and Sacraments.
  4. This day is only part of a much longer journey, and Jesus invites us to stop looking at what He gives us and to live by looking to Him instead.
  5. Unity is not our work, but a gift granted in the one baptism and one calling which comes from the one Spirit of the one Lord from the one Father over everything.
  6. Though we are nothing and weak in this world and counted as naught, God has graciously given us all things in Christ.
