1. When we cry to the Lord in our trouble, he will send us a preacher with words that deliver us from destruction.
  2. It’s God’s love that sets us free to love in the first place.
  3. The unbeliever will search for relief from temptations in worldly prescriptions and pleasures. The believer searches for answers in the promises of the One who can bring true lasting peace in mind, body, and soul.
  4. Justice and love are united in God, and we see this most clearly in Jesus on the cross. There, both God's hatred toward sin and compassion for the world come together.
  5. We are so free as Christians that we don't even have to compare ourselves to other Christians.
  6. With the proclamation that grace and peace come through the bloody suffering and death of Jesus, we're awoken to the fact that God's grace covers all our sin and His peace calms our busy heart and mind.
  7. This time of year, Christmas time, the world isn't so much Christ-expectant as it is Christ-haunted.
  8. The kind of peace Jesus points to can't be achieved with words.
