  1. Jesus is the only "brothers’ keeper" we have, and He is the only one we need.
  2. We might not grapple with God physically but, for most people, prayer can feel like a wrestling match.
  3. God never turns His back on His people. He visits them with salvation and even outsiders are welcomed in through His redemptive visitation.
  4. For Habakkuk and us, waiting is the hardest part and the only thing he has from God as He waits, the only thing that helps him, is faith.
  5. It is shocking to hear this word from both these readings, but it is meant to shock us to life, to wake us from the slumber of complacency, to see Christ in our neighbor.
  6. In this passage Jeremiah is enthusiastically praising God, then cursing the day he was born, then speaking as a warrior, then speaking fearfully.
  7. So, you have God’s generosity on the one hand and the greed of the elite on the other. Which would you rather have? Unjust scales or a scale breaking generous God?
