Old Testament (1216)
  1. A close examination of the entire life and ministry of Jesus reflects the Exodus event, and Jesus is the New Moses/the prophet like Moses.
  2. A left-handed man has a short sword and a message from God for a fat king.
  3. Sometimes believers vigorously debate God, sometimes they nod a silent Amen. Together, their narratives paint a picture of a life of faith characterized by complexity and tension.
  4. We preach, teach and confess the virgin birth, and rightly so, but the actual sign is not the Virgin giving birth, it is the Child who is born.
  5. Throughout the Old Testament, the seas and fish were symbols of the Gentiles. When Jesus ate fish, and called fishermen, he showed us that the mission to the Gentiles was about to begin in earnest.
  6. For the Israelites, the language of restoration cannot be separated from the language of resurrection.
  7. An introduction to the book of Judges and exploration of the first chapter.
  8. In chapter 41 the servant is identified as Israel, but chapter 42 is a different servant. In fact, Matthew 12:18-21 makes the ID clear—this Servant is Jesus!
  9. Chad and Daniel wrap up the book of Joshua. Idolatry, the "good words" of God, and choosing who you will serve.
  10. Solomon asks for what is necessary to carry out this task, an understanding/wise and discerning mind.
  11. God doesn’t let His promises “fall” but fulfills them all for everyone. How does God having one plan for both Jews and Gentiles shape our eschatology?
  12. If the LORD is faithful to His Covenant—and He must be—then He will remember His people and take action.
