Old Testament (1172)
  1. God did not rend the heavens and come down to collect the righteous for Himself. He came from a lineage of sinners to be their Savior.
  2. God has abandoned me, so why won’t he leave?
  3. The Day of the Lord will be the “day of the Lord’s sacrifice.” That is how He will handle wrath and sin, by bloodshed and sacrifice.
  4. My rash words are justified.
  5. We have Old Testament scholar, Chad Bird, on to discuss with us the ways we twist the book of Proverbs into a prosperity gospel, especially in regard to our ideas of family.
  6. This is an excerpt from Chad Bird’s book, Your God is Too Glorious, 2nd Edition
  7. The surprising thing about our text is just how devoid it really is of gospel. Amos makes it quite clear that the “Day of the Lord” is a day of darkness and NO LIGHT!
  8. In episode TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY-THREE, Mike and Wade discuss Ezekiel 16 and the imagery of husband and wife.
  9. Fess up, Job. Trouble doesn’t come from nowhere.
  10. As we discuss ways that prosperity gospel sneaks into the family, we decided to start off by looking at the book of Proverbs, as these are often the verses that are cherry picked and often used to take prosperity gospel ideas in regard to the family.
  11. The best way to get at preaching the Gospel in our text is to compare the prophets and rulers Micah holds before us to Christ, who is not only a better prophet but the prophet’s hope and the prophet “par excellence.”
  12. The good shepherd does everything.
