Old Testament (557)
  1. Sometimes believers vigorously debate God, sometimes they nod a silent Amen. Together, their narratives paint a picture of a life of faith characterized by complexity and tension.
  2. Throughout the Old Testament, the seas and fish were symbols of the Gentiles. When Jesus ate fish, and called fishermen, he showed us that the mission to the Gentiles was about to begin in earnest.
  3. An introduction to the book of Judges and exploration of the first chapter.
  4. God doesn’t let His promises “fall” but fulfills them all for everyone. How does God having one plan for both Jews and Gentiles shape our eschatology?
  5. Forced labor, subdued land, and Shiloh.
  6. There is a lot about Caleb in this episode. He is older but no less ready to take the land God has promised them.
  7. Good guys, bad guys, horses, chariots, and sand on the seashore.
  8. Chad and Daniel spend quite a bit of time discussing violence and death in the Bible. Five kings are trapped in a cave and Israel is winning battle after battle.
  9. Five kings rise up to go to war. We remember the plagues of Egypt. And the sun stands still?
  10. Israel’s neighbors trick them into making a covenant with them in a strange way. How will Joshua deal with his promise when he discovers they have been deceived?
  11. Everything is destroyed and something very unpleasant is done to the king of Ai that ends up pointing us to Jesus.
  12. This episode was recorded live at the Here We Still Stand conference.
