  1. As the sin-bearer, Jesus was also the sin-confessor in the psalms.
  2. "Your faith has made you well" . . . except faith never believes in itself, but trusts only in its object, namely Jesus.
  3. “Poverty of spirit” is not an ethical value we strive for. It is an act of God’s mercy spoken to the deepest recesses of our soul when it’s overwhelmed by God’s grace.
  4. Our certainty is of Christ, that mighty hero who overcame the Law, sin, death, and all evils.
  5. Christian hope means always hope in God and hope in Christ simultaneously without distinction.
  6. Why is it that wherever Jesus is, there is the party? Because to dine with Jesus is to be at one with Him, and He with us.
  7. The only one truly blessed of God, who in himself is God’s incarnate makarios, surrounds himself with a multitude of the accursed, the non-makarios.
  8. It is not her sacrifices that define Jane's faith, but her belief in the one who sacrificed for her.
  9. Jesus, the Great Physician, does "healing" in a way that no one else can. When He heals, it goes beyond physical and into eternity.
  10. Despite what the Pharisees believed and advertised, Jesus was not intent upon deconstructing the fundamental tenets of the Old Testament law. Actually, he proceeds to do just the opposite.
  11. Jesus comes to you. He binds your wounds, and he pours out his body and his blood for the forgiveness of your sins.
  12. Being a Christ-follower is indeed a bed of roses. But don't forget: roses have thorns. Jesus advises potential disciples to count the cost.
